Millan & Co. is seeking a highly analytical Tax Associate to integrate into our peer-reviewed CPA firm. This role centers on executing high-stakes tax compliance, entity structuring, and wealth governance for our elite private clients. Job Description

The Tax Associate will be responsible for handling rigorous tax preparation, maintaining strict compliance, and advising clients on multi-layered tax planning strategies. The ideal team member will possess deep expertise in business taxation, individual wealth structures, and trust and estate workflows. By managing the multifaceted complexity of a client's financial ecosystem, you will ensure that compliance needs are met while coordinating seamlessly with our broader advisory functions.

Skills & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and optimize individual and business (C-Corps, S-Corps, Partnerships) tax returns.
  • Develop technical skills and knowledge to systematically increase the complexity and types of returns completed over time.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance long-lasting client relationships, demonstrating a granular knowledge of each entity's business operations and finances.
  • Provide or assist with operational accounting services, including bookkeeping, payroll reporting, and sales tax compliance.
  • Identify, research, and resolve complex tax issues utilizing a clinical, rigorous methodology.

Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or another highly relevant financial field required.
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience preparing a wide variety of complex tax returns.
  • Deep understanding of practices and policies related to U.S. federal, state, and local (SALT) reporting requirements.
  • Core Competencies: Adjusting Journal Entries, General Ledger Reconciliation, and Month/Year-End Close protocols.
  • Software Mastery: Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, tailored to executive stakeholders.
  • Strong aptitude for meeting strict deadlines, solving systemic problems, and working seamlessly both independently and within a team environment.
  • Exceptional client service along with the ability to develop excellent client relationships rooted in trust and execution.
